Ultrasound Scans & Joint injections
Cooden Medical in Bexhill is one of the leading ultrasound and diagnostic imaging clinics. Our private ultrasound scans are used to diagnose and treat a wide range of orthopaedic and sports injuries.
Our ultrasound scans harness the latest technology, using high frequency sound waves to bring pin-sharp images to improve the accuracy of your diagnosis.
Many of our patients go on to have ultrasound guided injections for painful joints which can be given in precisely the right location due to the high quality of our ultrasound scanning.
Unlike most ultrasound clinics, you will be seen, scanned, and, if necessary, treated by a Consultant Radiologist – rather than a technician – who is highly trained in reading ultrasounds to diagnose your condition. Wouldn’t you rather be seen by an ultrasound expert?
We offer the latest ultrasound imaging technology and highly skilled diagnosis and treatment to help you get the right treatment quickly and effectively.
Our prices are very competitive compared to some of the big ultrasound clinics in central London.
A private ultrasound scan enables you to be seen quickly and efficiently, without needing a referral, bypassing waiting lists, at a time to suit you. You don’t need to wait for an NHS appointment or a GP referral. Call our team for a private ultrasound appointment.
Musculoskeletal Ultrasound enables our clinicians to scan the parts of the body where you are experiencing pain and provide a fast and accurate diagnosis.
We can scan any of the joints where pain commonly occurs from knees and shoulder, to hips and elbows. Our diagnostic imaging enables our doctors to get a clear picture of any musculoskeletal issues which may be causing you pain or discomfort and can then explain what your treatment options may be.
Common ultrasound locations include:
- Soft tissues/tendons
An ultrasound machine uses high frequency sound waves which it sends through the body. These sound waves create an echo which can be recorded and displayed as an image on a computer screen. Skilled consultant radiologists are able to interpret these digital images to help with your diagnosis and treatment.
Ultrasound scans can be used for scanning most parts of the body where there is soft tissue which makes them highly versatile and helpful for the diagnosis of a wide range of musculoskeletal conditions. These ultrasound scans are non-invasive, making them quick and convenient.
Most ultrasound scans take 20-30 minutes, but you may need to allow a little longer than that for your appointment. If you are scanning multiple areas of the body that can also take longer too. We can let you know how long you will require when you book your appointment.
There is no need to have a referral from your GP if you wish to have a diagnostic ultrasound scan. Many people prefer to self-refer for an early diagnosis as it will usually be faster than waiting to get an appointment with your GP and then booking an ultrasound appointment.
Our skilled consultant radiologists can also use ultrasound to provide highly targeted injections for pain relief in the joints.
The price of your ultrasound scan will depend on the location and extent of the scan – for example whether your scan is for one or two joints. Our prices are very reasonable, starting at just £150. You can see full details of the costs our private ultrasound scans on our pricing page.
Often yes, most diagnostic scans are covered by private medical insurance in the UK but it depends on the exact wording of your policy. Please check with your insurer before booking your ultrasound scan.
