Gynaecology Services

What is gynaecology?

It’s the area of medicine that looks after anything to do with the female reproductive system and sex organs. These include your uterus (womb), your ovaries, vagina and vulva. Gynaecologists are the specialist doctors who treat women who have problems affecting their reproductive systems, such as heavy or painful periods, fibroids, cancer and difficulty conceiving. They also advise on contraception. Gynaecologists are surgeons so can carry out surgery if it is necessary.
