Gynaecomastia reduction
This is a surgical procedure to treat gynaecomastia, the enlargement of the glandular component of the male breast, unfavourably nicknamed ‘man boobs’. The symptoms and size of gynaecomastia can vary from a small, firm enlargement of breast tissue just behind the nipple to a larger, more female-looking breast. Gynaecomastia can affect one or both breasts. The area can be tender to touch or painful, more commonly this is a cosmetic issue for men.
The Gynaecomastia Procedure
Gynaecomastia is treated surgically by creating small incisions into each breast and removing excess glandular and fatty tissue which results in a flatter, more masculine appearance to the chest area. The precise technique will depend upon the size of the glandular swelling, and commonly requires a combination of liposuction and direct excision of hard tissue. The scar in the areola heals very well.
