Consultant: Dr Phil Mayhead MBBS MRCP MSc

Dr Phillip Mayhead qualified from Kings College, London in 1997 and spent two years working in Australia as a Medical Registrar in a small Country Hospital. The majority of his medical career has been spent caring for patients in the South East of England and Eastbourne has been his home for over 10 years.

Within gastroenterology, he has directed his career towards inflammatory bowel disease, dyspepsia, biliary and pancreatic disease and endoscopic therapy and is continuing to extend his skills into endoscopic ultrasound.

Dr Mayhead has an extensive experience in endoscopic procedures including; endoscopic retrograde cholangiopancreatography (ERCP) which is performed when bile or pancreatic ducts may become narrowed or blocked due to tumours, gallstones, scarring or inflammation.

  • General Consultation

    It is thought 1 in 5 people will suffer from a gastro-intestinal disorder at some point during their life with irritable bowel syndrome – please add in lower case as I have done (IBS) being the most common. This consultation will offer a general examination and consultation with Dr Mayhead. The chance to discuss your concerns with the opportunity for diagnosis and a follow-on treatment plan.
