Skin Lesion Removal

Moles

These are the small, brown or black marks on your skin that you either born or develop when you’re a child or in your early adult life. Most moles are harmless and can actually be beauty enhancing – known as beauty spots, however some may be large and in awkward places, such as where you shave or on your nose, under bra straps etc. This can be a reason to want them removed.

Skin Tags

These are the small, flesh-coloured bumps that on the areas where your skin creases or gets rubbed (for example, on your neck or under arms). Although they are harmless, they can be annoying and unsightly and can also multiply, causing embarrassment and distress.

Warts

These are small, rough lumps that can be found anywhere on your body and face. They are highly contagious and unsightly and are caused by infection with the human papilloma virus (HPV). They can multiply in numbers, and when on the hands they can be cause distress and also can mean you pass the disease onto others.

Epidermoid Cysts

Are closed sac-like or capsule structures that may be filled with semisolid material, gaseous material, or liquid and can also be made up of a protein called keratin and fat. They usually appear on the face, neck, or upper body, especially the chest and shoulders. They erupt for many reasons, most often because of acne or mild skin injuries. (When they are formed because of swelling around hair follicles, they are called pilar cysts).

Lipoma

These are benign tumours made up of fatty tissue. They usually appear as a soft or firm nodule, size with a smooth normal surface and skin-coloured appearance. They are soft to the touch, usually movable, and are generally painless. Many lipoma’s are small (under 1cm diameter) but can enlarge to sizes greater than 6cms.

If skin lesions are unwanted from an aesthetical perspective, causing your problems; such as being under a bra strap or in the area you shave, or if there’s any concern they could be cancerous, you may want to get them removed.
