Crow’s Feet & Eye Bags (Tear Troughs)
One of the most popular complaints we get here at the clinic is crow’s feet; those annoying little lines that form around the outer corners of your eyes and eye bags; the type that show your age more than any other complaint.
Crow’s feet are typically the first wrinkles to appear on the face, which start to appear in your mid 20’s. They start as feint lines, slowly expanding and deepening with time, leaving you looking older, ruining the look of make-up and can be exaggerated when wearing glasses.
The main cause for crow’s feet is exposure to sunlight however lifestyle factors such as poor diet, smoking and indifferent eye skincare regimens all play a part, as does genetics and of course, ageing.
Tear troughs are depressions which run from the nose and all around under the eye. With the ageing process, the ligaments underneath your eyes that hold back fatty tissue start to weaken. This tissue can fall forward to form under eye bags, puffiness and dark circles.
Some are more prone to eye bags than other. This can be heredity, due to sinus infections, thyroid or kidney problems, hormonal imbalances, food or dust allergies, iron deficiency of caused by excessive caffeine, smoking and too little sleep.
