Laser Skin Resurfacing

Laser skin resurfacing is a highly effective treatment that we use to permanently remove pigmentation, soften lines, smooth uneven skin, fade acne scars, tighten sagging around the eyes and in the face and generally improve the overall texture of the skin.

Candela Syneron Skin Treatment

Here at The Cooden Medical Group we use Candela technology which utilises a specially crafted beam of thermal energy that has the power to reach deep into the dermal layers of your skin. The healing process allows your skin to naturally reform, encouraging production of collagen, resulting in healthy new, radiant and refreshed complexion.

Targeted Anti-Ageing

The versatile nature of laser treatment means that our experts can target your specific problem areas, leaving the rest of your skin untouched. We can also treat larger areas such as the whole face, depending on your requirements.

  • What areas can be treated?

All areas can be treated successfully with laser technology, improving wide range of problems; however popular areas are the face, eye area, neck, chest and hands.

What happens during laser skin treatment?

We will cover the area to be treated with an anaesthetic cream and leave this on for around 45 minutes. The laser beam will be delivered through a computer-controlled device that automatically scans the area of your skin being treated. If we are treating your face, your eyes will be protected with safety shields or glasses. During the treatment will hear a popping noise as the laser gently removes the outer skin cells.

What should I expect after laser skin resurfacing?

Initially you will be very red and sore and there may be swelling present in the areas treated, however, this should subside in a few hours. Further to this we suggest you take some time off of work. We will instruct you what to expect and how best to care for your healing skin at your consultation. After the first week, your skin will have a residual pink or red colour that will dissolve over time.

    Is laser skin resurfacing painful?

The amount of pain experienced varies in individuals, however we will discuss your anaesthesia options and will manage any discomfort from the treatment, both during and after. Most patients describe the post-procedure feeling as severe sunburn, but this feeling will subside in a few days.

How long will it take me to recover?

How long you take to heal depends upon the area and the depth and intensity of the treatment. For the first couple of weeks you will experience redness and a degree of peeling as the skin heals. Beforehand, we will answer all questions about temporary changes to your skin appearance and suggest ways to deal with this.

Are there the risks or side effects with laser skin resurfacing?

Not really, if you look after your skin as instructed. We will provide you with an aftercare plan to vastly reduce the risk of any infection. We will also make an appointment for follow-up visits to ensure excellent healing, recommended skin care routines and lifestyle changes.
