Vascular disease is the collective term for diseases that affect the arteries, veins and lymphatics. It is a common as heart disease and cancer and accounts for some 40% of deaths in the UK.
- Arterial diseases include: peripheral vascular disease, aneurysmal disease, carotid disease, strokes, leg ulcers
- Venous diseases include: VARICOSE VEINS, leg ulcers, deep vein thrombosis
- Lymphatic diseases include: lymphoedema
The Circulation Foundation is a charity that promotes and funds research into vascular disease. It also raises public awareness and supports people who are affected by vascular disease.
The awareness campaign for 2017 focusses on making key lifestyle changes that will help improve vascular health. These are:
- Stopping smoking
- Healthy eating
- Regular exercise
The charity also wants to raise funds to continue its research and educational work.
