  • The Cooden Medical Centre offer treatments for crows feet

One of the most popular complaints we get here at the clinic is crow’s feet; those annoying little lines that form around the outer corners of your eyes and eye bags; the type that show your age more than any other complaint.

Crow’s feet are typically the first wrinkles to appear on the face, which start to appear in your mid 20’s. They start as feint lines, slowly expanding and deepening with time, leaving you looking older, ruining the look of make-up and can be exaggerated when wearing glasses.

The main cause for crow’s feet is exposure to sunlight however lifestyle factors such as poor diet, smoking and indifferent eye skincare regimens all play a part, as does genetics and of course, ageing.

Tear troughs are depressions which run from the nose and all around under the eye. With the ageing process, the ligaments underneath your eyes that hold back fatty tissue start to weaken. This tissue can fall forward to form under eye bags, puffiness and dark circles.

Some are more prone to eye bags than other. This can be heredity, due to sinus infections, thyroid or kidney problems, hormonal imbalances, food or dust allergies, iron deficiency of caused by excessive caffeine, smoking and too little sleep.

Recommended treatments for Crows Feet and Eye Bags:

Here at The Cooden Medical Clinic we recommend the following treatments to help banish or prevent crow’s feet:

Muscle relaxing injections

Muscle relaxing injections can be used in many ways to prevent and soften the appearance of fine lines and wrinkles. They are a very effective way to treat crow’s feet by relaxing the facial muscles responsible for producing the problem. This treatment can be used either as a preventive treatment or to visibly soften existing lines.

  • What is the tear trough?

The tear trough is the trough that appears under the eyes, the area that becomes more pronounced as we age. Some people naturally have a slight tear trough so we don’t always correct this area, however it is a typical sign of ageing and it can be successful corrected.

Why do we form tear troughs?

As we age the skull slightly changes, the eye socket becomes larger and the cheekbones reduce in size which means there is less cushioning around the eyes. In addition to this, we also lose fat, in an area where it helps provide volume and support. With this gradual loss of support the tear trough can become more prominent.

What are the risks of tear trough treatment?

As you may be aware, the area around the eyes is one of the most difficult areas to treat. It is prone to water retention and puffiness so we have to be very careful not to place too much dermal filler here. Bruising is also quite likely around the eyes after treatment.
